Magaluf, a global destination
This year, the Mallorcan town is consolidating its improvement with the opening of new beach clubs on the beach and its commitment to incentive tourism 1 November, 2023Magaluf continues to grow as a tourist destination. After several years of improvements in its hotel and commercial fabric, 2024 promises to consolidate this Mallorcan town as a Mediterranean reference point for young visitors, but which also accommodates family tourists.
The offer that now exists on Magaluf beach in terms of restaurants and exclusive beach clubs allows Calvià to boast of a destination that now also wants to make itself known in the MICE segment, thanks to infrastructures adapted to host corporate business events, conventions and all kinds of meetings, workshops, product presentations and social events. Meanwhile, hotel renovations are still underway, and investments for next summer are well in excess of 20 million euros.
Beach Clubs
2023 has seen the birth of a significant number of seafront businesses. These new beach clubs, together with the existing ones, make up an offer that is difficult to match in Mallorca and in most Mediterranean destinations: haute cuisine, good music and exclusive spaces located on the seafront, almost right on the beach.
From international cuisine to local Km0 products, Magaluf allows visitors to taste a wide range of products from a sophisticated and cosmopolitan cuisine. This, in turn, has made itself felt in its clientele, which mixes families with young people, mainly from the United Kingdom, but also from other source markets.
With the island of Sa Porrassa in the background, Magaluf beach thus emerges as the perfect place to spend a day, enjoying all the services, crystal clear waters, and a culinary offer to suit all tastes, as well as multiple activities and water sports.
Events
Already consolidated as a quality destination, Magaluf now wants to go one step further. For this reason, it is working hard to attract a new profile: tourists interested in incentives, congress and meetings.
For the moment, the experience of those who have enjoyed the area beyond the summer months is more than satisfactory: it is a sunny place, far from the noise of the big city, but at the same time only 15 minutes from Palma, the capital. And all of this, with hotel and sports infrastructures of the highest level.
In this context, the commitment to MICE tourism is going to be reinforced over the next few years, while working with airlines and hoteliers to improve the frequency of flights and the opening of establishments in the low season months.
So Magaluf is working to welcome visitors all year round.
Sports
Magaluf is sport. Just a few metres from some of the most popular discotheques in Mallorca, the Athletics Track brings together hundreds of local athletes every day who train alongside athletes from all over Europe. The facilities, which have become the most important in the Balearic Islands for the world of athletics, have been used to train athletes of the highest level, such as Daniela García or the Paralympian Joan Munar. But sport never stops in Magaluf.
Rugby beach tournaments by the sea, the traditional San Silvestre - a race that brings together hundreds of fans every 31st December - and especially the Half Marathon, which in 2024 will be held on 20th April, make Magaluf an ideal destination for sports lovers. Not in vain, here they will also find a municipal swimming pool, a football pitch, and other facilities - such as a golf course - that complete the overall experience of the athlete.
A global destination
Magaluf is therefore already immersed in a new era. However, in spite of its renovated hotel plant and an enviable gastronomic offer, Magaluf wants to continue growing. To continue improving.
In this sense, new investments are planned for the coming months. The planned investments in the hotel plant exceed 20 million euros, affecting more than 1,600 rooms. All thanks to a public-private partnership that has been key to making the great transformation of the destination a reality.
Work will also start in 2024 to refurbish the seafront promenade. Through the Next Generation funds granted by the European Union, a profound transformation will be activated in two phases, which will improve the urban environment of a beach frequented by tourists and residents alike.
The season that is now coming to an end has left high occupancy levels of close to 90% during the summer months, and a high degree of satisfaction among the clientele. All of this, moreover, in a 2023 that closes with hardly any excesses in the streets of Magaluf, and without having had to lament a single fatality due to ‘balconing’.
The aim is, by 2024, to offer an even better experience to those who visit Magaluf, making it a destination for everyone, in a responsible environment.
