Barcelona and the Balearic Islands lead cruise traffic in 2025
10 September, 2025Cruise traffic in Spanish ports continues to rise. Between January and July, a total of 7.5 million cruise passengers arrived in Spain, representing an increase of 16.5% over the same period last year. During these seven months, 2,796 ships called, 505 more than in 2024, which is equivalent to an increase of 22%, according to data from the state Ports.
Barcelona has solidified its position as the main cruise destination in the country, with 2.1 million passengers received (+12%), followed by the Balearic Islands (1.4 million and +9.4%), Las Palmas (1.2 million and +23.8%) and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (893,594 and +33.4%). In terms of the number of stopovers, Las Palmas stands out with 459 cruises (+31%), Barcelona with 463 (+16.3%) and Santa Cruz de Tenerife with 402 (+34%).
In July, Spanish ports received 1.3 million cruise passengers, 11.7% more than in 2024, and 328 ships berthed (+15%). Barcelona once again led the month with 453,131 passengers, while the Balearic Islands received 354,643. Cadiz, Valencia and Malaga are also noteworthy, with 28, 27 and 21 vessels respectively.
