Rioja Alavesa celebrates the grape harvest with experiences for all ages
24 September, 2025Rioja Alavesa celebrates the grape harvest this autumn with an agenda of activities that combine tradition, gastronomy and wine tourism. The Grape Harvest Festival brings together locals and visitors to Leza for the treading of grapes and the tasting of the first grape juice. The day includes commented tastings, a popular meal, aizkolaris [wood chopping] exhibitions and ball games, as well as craft and local product stalls.
The region’s wineries are also joining in with their own proposals. Amador García offers a grape harvest workshop for the whole family, in which the little ones participate in the harvesting and treading of grapes, while the adults enjoy local wines in the “Eden de las Variedades”.
For those who prefer an evening event, the “Tardeos de Vendimia” at Espacio Foehn are held on the last Friday of September and the first two Fridays of October, with live music, three wines and three pinchos [titbits] per ticket.
For its part, Bideona winery organises guided tours from Thursday to Monday that allow visitors to learn first-hand about the ripening process and the varietal differences in the area.
