Gran Hotel La Florida reborn as METT Barcelona
22 October, 2025The Gran Hotel La Florida reopened its doors on 1 September as METT Barcelona, after a €15-million investment. The iconic property is part of a $50 million joint venture between Sunset Hospitality Group (SHG), Atom Hotels Socimi and GMA Corporate. With this operation, SHG, present in 26 countries with over 90 establishments, strengthens its position in Europe in the luxury lifestyle segment and adds its second hotel in Spain.
With 70 rooms in three categories, the new five-star Gran Lujo combines architectural heritage and Mediterranean design to attract an international audience with high purchasing power, especially from the UK, France, Germany, the US and the Middle East. The hotel offers six panoramic terraces, two pools and a complete wellness universe headed by the Valmont Red Carpet Spa, along with a fitness centre and a designer boutique.
The gastro offer includes the Mediterranean restaurant Albarada, the 1925 Vermutería, the Pool Bar and the sophisticated Florida Lounge by Lladró. It also has meeting rooms and a private club for exclusive events. According to CEO Jaime Buxó, the aim is to combine respect for heritage with a modern vision of luxury, generating a positive impact on the city through 80 direct jobs and collaboration with local suppliers.
