Spain regains its leading role in European airline punctuality
22 October, 2025The consultancy firm Cirium’s On Time Performance (OTP) report for August brings good news for Spanish aviation: two Spanish airlines are once again among the most punctual in Europe. Iberia enters the global top 10 and Vueling becomes the best positioned Spanish airline in the European ranking.
Globally, Azul leads the way with 92.15 % of flights on time, while Aeromexico and SAS are second and third respectively. Iberia managed to return to the global top 10, reaching ninth place with a 79.11% punctuality rate, after disappearing from the list in July. A notable improvement that reinforces the image of reliability of the IAG Group’s flagship company.
In Europe, SAS leads with 87.20 %, followed by LOT Polish Airlines and Austrian Airlines. Among the Spanish airlines, Vueling is in fifth place with 80.48%, up three positions despite a slight decrease compared to July. Iberia, with 79.11%, rises in regularity but falls to seventh place. Both airlines, which belong to the IAG group, thus demonstrate the strength and competitiveness of the Spanish sector in the European skies.
