Agaete (Gran Canaria) and Ezcaray (La Rioja), recognised by UN Tourism for their commitment to sustainability and authenticity 5 November, 2025Spain once again stands out as a rural and sustainable tourism destination. UN Tourism has included Agaete and Ezcaray among the “Best Tourism Villages in the World 2025”, an accolade that recognises communities that protect their cultural and natural heritage while offering authentic experiences to visitors.
Agaete, in the north of Gran Canaria, combines volcanic nature, seafaring traditions and a mild climate all year round. Its coastal paths, Puerto de las Nieves and local culture make the municipality a perfect refuge for those seeking tranquillity and unique Atlantic landscapes.
In turn, Ezcaray, in La Rioja, stands out for its traditional architecture, gastronomy and natural surroundings. Located next to the Sierra de la Demanda, it is ideal for enjoying nature, hiking or Riojan food and wine.
Both villages represent the most authentic and sustainable Spain, where travellers can connect with history, culture and local life. An invitation to discover a country that preserves its essence while looking to the future.
