Air Europa and Turkish Airlines seal their alliance
19 November, 2025Air Europa has closed the agreement with Turkish Airlines, which becomes part of its capital with an injection of € 300 million. The operation will grant the Turkish airline a stake of around 26% once regulatory approvals are completed. With this step, Air Europa considers the SEPI loan concluded, repaying in advance a loan of around € 500 million, a year ahead of schedule.
The move marks a milestone in European aviation, by bringing together in the same company three key players in the sector: IAG, with 20% of the capital; Turkish Airlines, with around 26%; and Globalia, which maintains the majority shareholding.
The operation, which values Air Europa at € 1.175 billion, symbolises the end of one era and the beginning of another. With its debt fully settled and a reinforced shareholding structure, the airline faces the future with greater solidity, after having maintained its financial commitment and its workforce of nearly 4,600 employees throughout the process.
