British Airways reopens the Madrid–London City route

17 December, 2025

British Airways has reinstated the route between Madrid‑Barajas and London City, adding it back into its schedule with a total of 11 weekly frequencies. The service is operated by BA Cityflyer, a subsidiary airline of British Airways specialising in European and domestic links from London City.

The reactivation of this connection means the return of a route that the airline has previously operated and which now comes back with a proposal focused on offering direct access to the most central airport in the British capital.

The main distinguishing feature of this new operation is, precisely, its arrival point: London City. Its location close to London’s financial centre makes it possible to reduce travel times and represents a differentiated alternative compared with other metropolitan airports. This positioning makes the link an especially attractive option for those looking to minimise time on short stays, while at the same time opening up an additional channel of connectivity with the network of European destinations operated by BA Cityflyer.

With the return of this route, this expands the range of options available between Madrid and London. As well as existing services to Heathrow and Gatwick, there is now a gateway directly aimed at those who prioritise speed and urban proximity, reinforcing the diversity of alternatives for travellers.
