Marbella will host Spain’s first Waldorf Astoria hotel
14 January, 2026Luxury hotel brand Waldorf Astoria, owned by the Hilton group, will make its debut in Spain with a hotel in Marbella, scheduled to open in 2029. The project will be developed in the future Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort, as reported by Higuerón Developments, and will involve an initial investment of 220 million euros. The arrival of this iconic brand strengthens Marbella’s positioning as one of the most established high-end tourism destinations in the Mediterranean.
Waldorf Astoria Marbella will offer 120 rooms and suites, as well as 120 branded residences managed directly by the brand, which will combine the privacy of a home with the services of a luxury hotel. The concept will integrate accommodation, wellness and personalised experiences, with 24/7 customer service, a private chef and access to premium facilities, including a 750 m2 spa. The hotel will be located at the central axis of the complex and will enable the complete transformation of the historic Marbella Golf, an area of more than one million m2.
The design of the project will feature the involvement of three architects awarded the Pritzker Prize, while the golf course, created in 1994 by Robert Trent Jones Sr., will be reinterpreted by his son Robert with a contemporary and sustainable approach. For Hilton, this opening represents a milestone in its strategy to expand its luxury portfolio, and for Higuerón Developments it consolidates the commitment to excellence and to Marbella as a first-class international destination.
