A Madrid icon is transformed into a club and boutique hotel

14 January, 2026

The iconic Metrópolis building in Madrid, inaugurated in 1911, will begin a new chapter in 2026 when it becomes Club Metrópolis, a project that restores the splendour of the historic property 115 years after its opening. Located at the junction of Gran Vía and Alcalá Street, one of the most representative spots in the capital, the building is undergoing a change of use that will transform it into an international private club conceived to redefine hospitality and the art of experiencing the city.

After more than five years of work, the property, one of the most photographed on the Madrid skyline thanks to its iconic dome topped by the Winged Victory, will house in its 6,000 m2 an exclusive private club, a 19-room boutique hotel and seven gastronomic spaces. The proposal is rounded off with a rooftop terrace and a schedule of more than 200 annual experiences for its members, making it one of the most distinctive new destinations in the capital.

The anticipation generated by Club Metrópolis has been evident even before its opening to the public, scheduled for next 21 January. The membership application quota is already full and a waiting list has been launched. The goal of the project is to position itself as a benchmark on the international circuit of private clubs, from London to New York, under the umbrella of Grupo Paraguas.
