Nine ferries and €1,300 m to halve Grimaldi’s emissions

11 February, 2026

The Grimaldi Group will speed up its green transition with an investment of 1.3 billion euros for the construction of nine state‑of‑the‑art ferries, which will join its fleet between 2027 and 2030. The aim is to move forward in the decarbonisation of maritime transport. The operation will be financed with cash flow and will make it possible to cut CO2 emissions by 50%.

The new vessels will incorporate innovations such as dual methanol propulsion, low‑friction silicone hull coatings and will be ready for shore‑side electrical connection. According to the group, this technological leap is based on a growth model founded on financial solvency, the systematic reinvestment of profits and technological leadership, pillars that underpin the company’s industrial and environmental strategy.

In parallel, the Spanish subsidiary Trasmed, based in Valencia, closed 2025 with a 10% improvement in passenger revenues and nearly 14% in the freight area. Ebitda and net result increased by around 90% and debt was reduced to 26.5 million euros. With these results, the group expects Trasmed to achieve net profits in 2026 and consolidate its position in the Balearic market.
