Sercotel innovates in its hotels with solutions from four startups
4 March, 2026Sercotel and the technology consultancy Seidor have launched the pilot phase of OpenStay Lab with four startups selected from 14 projects. The solutions will be validated in the chain’s hotels under real conditions to measure their impact on operational efficiency, sustainability and the guest experience.
OpenStay Lab, launched in November as an open innovation programme, connects startups with operational challenges in the hotel sector. A panel of eight experts evaluated the proposals according to technological maturity, scalability and strategic alignment.
The four startups selected operate in key areas. Controla automates air conditioning when the guest leaves the room to reduce energy consumption. DefCon8 monitors water use to detect leaks and optimise resources. ProcesSap incorporates robotics for logistical and repetitive tasks. And Jaippy analyses online reviews to improve reputation management on booking platforms.
The pilots will be monitored in March. On 20 April, a Demo Day will evaluate the results and will allow between one and three solutions to be selected for implementation. Those selected may be eligible for an investment of up to 100,000 euros, linked to Sercotel’s entry into their capital.
