Catalonia will host Formula 1 until 2032

4 March, 2026

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will keep Formula 1 on its calendar until 2032 following a new agreement that guarantees Grands Prix in 2028, 2030 and 2032, in addition to the race already confirmed for this year. The event generates an annual economic impact of over 300 million euros, consolidating itself as one of the destination’s main international sporting attractions.

Located in Montmeló, 32 kilometres from Barcelona, the circuit has hosted 35 editions of the championship since 1991. From 2026, the race will officially be called the Gran Premio de Barcelona-Catalunya, whose 36th edition will be held from 12 to 14 June.

The 2024 Grand Prix generated more than 2,500 full-time equivalent jobs, according to the Generalitat, with direct effects on the comarca of Vallès Oriental and on Catalonia as a whole.

From 2025, management of the circuit will fall to Fira Circuit, under a public-private model. The renewal strengthens the positioning of Barcelona and its surroundings as a stable venue for major international sporting events, combining elite competition with the destination’s cultural and urban offer.
