The Port of Barcelona will unveil the most modern terminal for ferries

15 April, 2026

The Port of Barcelona is moving forward with a new ferry terminal designed to improve operations, concentrate passenger traffic outside the city centre and offer a more modern infrastructure for those travelling by sea.

The Port of Barcelona has awarded Baleària the construction and operation of the future ferry terminal on the Adossat wharf, an infrastructure that will enhance the experience of travellers arriving in or leaving the city by sea.

The project includes a 5,600m2 building for the passenger terminal, offices and services, as well as separate areas for cars, lorries and rolling cargo, internal circulation spaces, parking and public rest areas.

The new terminal will occupy 75,250m2 and will come into operation in a first phase in February 2027 on 38,000 m2, with full development planned for the end of 2029. In its final phase it will have four simultaneous berths.

The project is part of the port reorganisation launched in 2018 to concentrate passenger traffic on the Adossat wharf, improve efficiency and reduce urban impact. The planned investment amounts to €25.3 million.
