Wine tourism gains weight as a motivation to travel around Spain
15 April, 2026Wine tourism is gaining prominence in Spain as an activity increasingly integrated into the traveller’s experience, with proposals linked to the landscape, gastronomy and local culture.
The seventh edition of FINE 2026, held in Valladolid, has confirmed the growth of wine tourism as one of the activities with the greatest potential for those visiting Spain.
The boom in the sector is also backed by data: a report by Geisenheim University, based on over 1,300 wineries in 47 countries, indicates that 88% already incorporate tourism activities and that, in the most advanced projects, this line contributes on average 25% of turnover.
In addition, gastronomic tourism, where food and wine tourism plays a central role, attracted nearly half a million international tourists in 2025. The sector now seeks to consolidate itself with more digitalisation, real-time booking and experiences linked to authenticity, sustainability and inland tourism.
