Barcelona strengthens its profile as an urban wellbeing destination
15 April, 2026Barcelona is positioning itself among the European cities with the greatest access to spas, a factor that reinforces its appeal for travellers looking to combine urban leisure and wellbeing.
Barcelona ranks eighth in Europe for the number of spas and wellness centres per inhabitant, with four establishments for every 10,000 residents, according to an analysis by Drip Hydration of 25 European cities.
This figure reinforces the position of the Catalan capital in a growing tourism segment, in which visitors seek to integrate rest, recovery and self-care experiences into their trip. The study highlights that interest in this type of offering, from thermal circuits to wellness treatments, continues to grow both among tourists and the local population.
Beyond its spa offering, Barcelona is also associated with urban transformation initiatives such as the “Green Axes”, aimed at expanding pedestrian and green areas and incorporating wellbeing into city life.
