H10 Hotels: major sustainable progress with Stay Green in 2025
10 June, 2026H10 Hotels has made significant progress in its Sustainability Programme Stay Green during 2025, driven by the reduction of its carbon footprint, the completion of strategic renewable energy projects and the consolidation of operational improvements.
Following the roadmap established since its creation in 2021, the company sets its objectives on four lines of action projected up to the year 2030, which have been strategically defined from a multidisciplinary and cross-cutting perspective, applied to all the company’s areas and activities.
This involves reducing the carbon footprint, managing water sustainably, promoting responsible consumption and encouraging social participation
Reduction of the carbon footprint
The company has renewed, for the fourth consecutive year, the CO₂ Conformity Certificate, awarded by AENOR, which certifies the calculation and verification of its carbon footprint in accordance with the GHG Protocol methodology, including scope 1 and 2 emissions.
Emissions for 2025 stand at 3.82 kg of CO₂ per stay, representing a 10% reduction compared with 2024 and a 60% reduction compared with the levels of the reference year, 2010. This improvement is due to the purchase of electricity from renewable sources in markets where this is possible, placing H10 Hotels among the chains with one of the lowest carbon footprints in the sector.
In the field of renewable energy, in 2025 H10 Hotels has promoted the installation of 9,500 solar panels in 13 of its establishments, specifically in its 2 resorts in the Dominican Republic and in 11 hotels in the Canary Islands. The installations have a total capacity of 5,650 kWp and occupy an area equivalent to nine football pitches with clean energy production equivalent to the annual consumption of nearly 3,000 households.
These installations will make it possible to generate 15% of the electricity consumed in these establishments, reaching up to 30% self-consumption in some cases
In addition, half of the chain’s establishments have solar energy or geothermal systems and, since 2015, all new hotels or those undergoing full refurbishment have incorporated low environmental impact technologies such as aerothermal energy, geothermal energy or biomass.
Furthermore, thanks to the purchase of electricity with renewable origin certificates, 94% of the electricity consumed by the company’s hotels is renewable and therefore free of greenhouse gas emissions.
Sustainable water management
In recent years, the company has consolidated its water-saving strategy through various actions such as modernising irrigation systems, using native plants adapted to the local climate (which reduces water requirements in gardening) and optimising operational processes and cleaning protocols.
With the implementation of these measures, the chain has managed to reduce water consumption per stay by 7% compared with 2024 and by 19% compared with 2010 levels.
Responsible consumption
To protect the natural environment and reduce the environmental impact of the waste generated, the chain promotes responsible consumption with projects such as the elimination of plastics in its establishments, the reduction of waste generated and the promotion of green mobility.
With the measures implemented in recent years, the company has stopped consuming 68 tonnes of single-use plastic per year from items such as amenities, cutlery, cups or bottles made from this material. To replace this type of packaging, it offers guests reusable water bottles that can be refilled at the more than 250 filtering machines located in the hotels.
In the area of food waste, the chain has promoted a set of actions to minimise losses and overproduction at its food and beverage outlets. These include the implementation of more efficient tableware formats, staff training and awareness-raising on good practices and the introduction of Artificial Intelligence systems (Winnow).
Thanks to these measures, food waste has been reduced by 16% annually, saving more than 300 tonnes of organic waste
Social commitment
Corporate Social Responsibility has been part of the philosophy and corporate culture of H10 Hotels since its beginnings. The social work carried out by the company is incorporated into Stay Green, which also includes the initiatives developed in this area.
H10 Hotels has been working since 2016 with the Fundació Albert, whose mission is to support children and families at risk of social exclusion through collaboration with organisations such as the Fundación Pere Tarrés, Cáritas and Hospital HM Nens de Barcelona. With this project, in which more than 60 professionals and volunteers collaborate, more than 1,000 children and more than 100 families have been supported.
In addition, H10 Hotels collaborates with a wide variety of local non-profit associations and organisations that work on different aid projects in developing countries. Since 2016, the company has been collaborating with the Fundació Guné to promote female literacy in the Kolda region of Senegal. In the last three years, this commitment has enabled nearly 2,000 women to receive training in reading, writing, health and nutrition, also helping to promote the schooling of their daughters.
Another key initiative is the collaboration, over the last decade, with the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona and its Hospital Amic programme, whose aim is to help improve the emotional well-being of hospitalised children through dog-assisted interventions. Over these ten years, the chain has contributed through the donation of over €350,000.
2030 objectives: environmental and social targets
As part of its sustainability plan, H10 Hotels has set itself the goal of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 75% over the period 2021–2030. The company also aims to reduce water consumption by 20% and cut the waste generated by 25% over the same time frame.
In terms of corporate social responsibility, H10 Hotels wants to continue promoting social projects in the local communities where it operates, as well as fostering a positive corporate culture that supports learning, professional development and the well-being of its employees and partners.
