Barcelona unveils Spain’s first Meininger hotel
8 July, 2026Meininger Hotels opened the Meininger Barcelona Fira Gran Via on 25 June, its first property in Spain and the starting point for its expansion in a priority market for the company in southern Europe. The hotel brings its hybrid model to Barcelona, a formula combining hotel services with common areas typical of hostel accommodation.
The new asset is located opposite Fira Gran Via, in a converted former office building purchased in 2022 by the Arcano Value Added Real Estate II fund. It has over 6,000 m2, 162 rooms, over 500 beds and 30 parking spaces, with private rooms for leisure travellers, business clients, families, groups and individual guests.
The property adds a lounge area, three terraces, bar and a “heat & eat” area for preparing or storing food. Its location alongside one of Europe’s main trade fair and congress venues enhances its appeal for business and event travel, with connections to the centre of Barcelona and El Prat airport. The hotel has BREEAM certification, renewable electricity, upgraded insulation, solar panels and water‑saving systems. In 2027, Madrid will be Meininger’s next step on the Iberian Peninsula.
