Barcelona will add a new museum dedicated to Gaudí in 2028
8 July, 2026In 2028, Barcelona will add a new space dedicated to Antoni Gaudí with the opening of the Museu Gaudí Teresianes, in the Teresianes school on Ganduxer Street. The building, which until now could only be visited regularly by pupils and families of the school, will be converted into a 3,000m2 cultural facility intended to expand the city’s Gaudí map.
The project, driven by IngeniaCultura, will involve an investment of between €6 - €7 million and will occupy the first three floors of the building, originally designed as an educational and convent space. The religious community will make these spaces available through a 15-year agreement, extendable for another five years, while the nuns will move to the top floor. The new museum will make it possible to discover one of the architect’s lesser‑known legacies, marked by his unique symbolic interpretation of Teresian spirituality.
The museum concept will be organised into three areas. The first floor will host a permanent exhibition on the building, university research and a virtual reality experience. The second, arranged around a cloister of parabolic arches, will house contemporary art exhibitions. The top level will offer an Espai Gaudí 360º on his life and his most universal work in Barcelona.
