Spain expands its family offer to attract all generations

9 September, 2026

Spain is strengthening its family tourism offer with proposals aimed not only at those travelling with children, but also at teenagers, young people from Generation Z and older adults. Andalusia, Catalonia, the Basque Country and the Region of Valencia stand out among the most specialised destinations.

Andalusia is the preferred option for 26.3% of families for summer holidays in Spain and welcomed 6.8 million family tourists in the last full year recorded. Catalonia, for its part, welcomed 12.6 million family visitors, equivalent to 30% of its tourists.

The Basque Country combines coast, gastronomy, nature and active tourism, with a recommendation rate of 80% among families. In the Region of Valencia this segment already represents 36% of tourist demand, driven by the beaches and by growing interest in nature, culture and gastronomy.

The offer is also expanding with new certified destinations. Ávila, Burgos and Aranjuez have recently obtained the Family Tourism Seal, strengthening a Spanish network that combines heritage, leisure, outdoor activities and experiences adapted to different ages.
