Four plans at sea to discover Spain in September as well

9 September, 2026

Nautical tourism is gaining ground among those looking for a different kind of holiday in Spain. Sailing no longer requires owning a boat: today it is possible to book a berth on a sailing boat, share crossings or learn to sail during the trip.

Among the fastest‑growing options is the combination of sailing, nature, music and gastronomy, with experiences in places such as the Cíes Islands, which include concerts on board and tastings of local produce.

Co‑sailing is also becoming more popular, designed for travellers who are moving around on their own but want to share the experience. Destinations such as Ibiza and Formentera offer crossings where several people book a place on the same boat.

Another option is to cover part of the Camino de Santiago by sea, along the Ruta Traslatio, which allows you to sail along the Galician coast and stop at historic ports, fishing towns and rías.

The offer is rounded off with beginner and advanced sailing courses in the Balearic Islands and along the Mediterranean coast, a way of combining holidays, learning and sailing.
