Motorhomes are right on-trend with more being rented in Spain than ever
23 March, 2022Bookings for nights spent in motorhomes in Spain grew by up to 150% in 2021 compared to the previous year, according to some operators offering the accommodation. This gives an idea of how well the segment is performing, which has benefitted from the pandemic by being a very safe and healthy means of transport.
Among the key factors contributing to this increase in motorhome travel are the freedom, flexibility and autonomy offered to tourists who choose to hit the road. This is heightened by the fact that most of the activity takes place out in the open air, with travel private and not usually by public transport another benefit.
According to figures provided by the Indie Campers booking platform, more than 60% of travellers in 2021 picked up their motorhome in their own country. The main collection points were Barcelona and Edinburgh, where more than 70% of vehicle pick-ups were domestic.
