This is how Madrid is innovative with personalised tourist experiences

30 March, 2022

Madrid City Council is creating an emblem that will recognise those artisan workshops and creators who offer experiences of tourist interest or value that have a high potential to attract international visitors to the city. The aim is to promote creation as a sign of identity and to attract travellers who are looking to experience the city in a different way and discover it through exclusive experiences.

“Getting to know the design, creation or manufacturing process of a piece of craftsmanship is a unique offer that allows the traveller to connect with the essence of the city and makes Madrid a special destination full of unique moments”, said the Councillor for Tourism, Almudena Maíllo, with regard to the initiative.

In the same vein, the second edition of the call 'Made in Madrid' has just been launched. This initiative aims to involve the creative and artistic sector of Madrid in the projection of the city's image, and invites people to create items inspired by the capital to be exhibited and sold in tourist office shops.

The range of items that can be designed includes handicrafts made of various materials (leather, wood, ceramics, glass, metals...), jewellery and costume jewellery, textiles, decorative and/or useful items. It also includes graphic works (engraving, printing, photography and painting), books and non-perishable foods. Ultimately, the products must be original and have the potential to be marketed.
