Spain expects to recover 80% of international tourists in April

13 April, 2022

The Spanish Government has set recovering tourism to Spain as its main objective after the pandemic. At the moment, the hope of achieving it in April is justified, as estimations point out that the country will receive 80% of the visitors that were registered during the same month before the COVID-19 infection waves broke out.

On the 1st of April the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism presented, jointly with ForwardKeys, the travel predictions in Spain, which foresee a “positive evolution” for the coming months, although with caution, as it is not known how the current international situation will affect tourism.

The good results for the Easter holidays, as well as the 24.1 million of overnight stays shown by the hotel occupancy survey in January and February ̶ 72% of the pre-pandemic level ̶ together with the positive job data, which show an increase of 300,000 people affiliated to the social security system, suggest that it will be a good year.
