15 races set to run through World Heritage Sites in 2022
11 May, 2022The World Heritage Cities Race Circuit runs from April to December 2022 and consists of 15 races, 4 of which must be completed to qualify for the final round. In all races, the distances range from 10 km to half marathon length and run completely or partially in the heritage area of each city.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to combine sport with the tourism experience afterwards, which means enjoying our historic centres, nature, gastronomy, cultural events and the attractions and beauty of 15 unique cities”, explained Carlos García Carbayo, president of the World Heritage Cities Group.
The main goal of the Circuit is to promote, through fun runs, the 15 Spanish World Heritage Cities: Alcalá de Henares, Ávila, Baeza, Cáceres, Córdoba, Cuenca, Ibiza/Eivissa, Mérida, Salamanca, San Cristóbal de la Laguna, Santiago de Compostela, Segovia, Tarragona, Toledo and Úbeda.
The Circuit starts with the Nocturna SantYago 10K on the 30th of April and will finish with the Cursa Popular Eivissa Patrimoni de la Humanitat 10 km, held between the 4th and the 8th of December.
