Spanish trains on track for sustainable mobility in 2022
11 May, 2022The Spanish railway network is set to become a sustainable mobility system, evidenced by Renfe becoming an international ally of the Global Mobility Call, an international event on sustainable mobility that will take place in Madrid from 14 to 16 June. The company is making great progress in its sustainability and digitalisation goals, prioritising attracting more passengers to the most environmentally friendly means of transport.
Promoted by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, the congress aims to boost economic and social recovery at a key moment after the pandemic, as well as to contribute to the current energy resilience and take advantage of the investment and sustainable development opportunities offered by the European Green Pact and NextGenerationEU funds.
Throughout 2022, Renfe will continue to carry out measures aimed at improving the accessibility and equipment of the stations it manages in the Cercanías hubs, and will develop the new integrated mobility platform “Renfe as a Service” (RaaS), which will allow customers to plan and book all the ‘door-to-door’ services they need to travel from their origin to their final destination, in a single click.
