You’ll never guess which is Spain’s most sustainable hotel
1 June, 2022Spain’s most Sustainable hotel isn’t located in one of the country’s tourist meccas, nor can it be found on its islands, coasts, or cities, be it a bustling metropolis or medium-sized urb. Nor is it a rural or agritourism hotel. Where is it, then? The answer that may surprise you is, the desert.
The name of the hotel with this enviable title is the cutting-edge, innovative establishment DistrictHive, located in a stunningly special part of the desert in the Andalusian province of Granada, a region that is considered the last unspoilt, secret paradise of the Iberian Peninsula. The best way to describe this unique spot is a future-like dream that has come to pay us a visit in the present-day.
The establishment includes a 35m2 modular capsule hotel that is autonomous, nomadic-as it can be moved, and most importantly, sustainable. Its Sustainability comes from the fact that it doesn’t need to be connected to any energy supply, works off of solar energy, doesn’t touch the ground, using wind to catch its water supply and turns sewage into ashes.
