Mar Hotels set up urban vegetable gardens in its establishments
22 June, 2022Guests and employees of hotels that are part of the Spanish Mar Hotels chain can now take part in an intriguing new experience: sowing. They’ll be able to care for and harvest aromatic plants and vegetables planted in the new urban vegetable gardens being set up in the establishments. These will then be used in their kitchens.
The initiative is one of the actions included in its corporate social responsibility (CSR) plan, but as it also has value in terms of sustainability, it’s a project with wide-ranging benefits.
Currently, more than 50% of the fruit and vegetables used in Mar Hotels establishments are already local or Km0 and grown using integrated farming, with Global GAP certification. On top of this, from now on, many of the aromatic herbs used will be sown and harvested by the hotel guests themselves.
A proactive initiative of sustainability and environmental awareness and promotion, which will show guests the chain’s commitment to responsible consumption and local products.
