Nearly 60% of LGBTIQ+ friendly Europeans have visited Spain
6 July, 2022Some 59.4% of European LGBTIQ+ friendly tourists have visited Spain, making it their most-visited destination. This percentage has increased in 2022 by 1.9% compared to the previous year. Moreover, 64.5% are repeat visits, which is a 14.6% increase.
According to data from the European tourism intelligence platform International Tourism Group (ITG), Travellyze, Spain is among the three favourite destinations for LGBTIQ+ friendly Europeans to travel to this summer. Specifically, the country holds second position in the ‘Top 3’ ranking, along with Italy, in first place, and Germany, in third.

Spain’s rating as an LGBTIQ+ friendly destination has improved by 1.2% compared to 2021, with the country proving to be a highly desirable destination for travellers from all over the world. Spain’s leisure and entertainment offer is also highly valued, with 33.4% of travellers in this segment saying they would spend between 1,000 and 3,000 euros, and 27.3% up to 1,000 euros.
Within these categories, outdoor activities (40.6%), living new experiences (40%) and gastronomy (37.8%) were all highly valued. This assessment takes into account the perception, experience and knowledge of the destination.
