27 Spanish music festivals you can’t miss

10 August, 2022

Festival tourism returns to Spain this summer after two years of inactivity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Demand has doubled, and there’s a good chance that by the end of the year its turnover will exceed the record of 382.5 million euros in 2019, according to the Music Festival Association (FMA).

The music festival industry recorded a slight recovery in 2021 thanks to the progressive relaxation of travel restrictions. In 2022, the pent-up desire to travel and enjoy live music, coupled with the industry’s need to make up for losses in 2020 and 2021, has resulted in a wide range of highly successful events being staged across Spain.

There are a total of 27 major music festivals taking place in Spain, from the well-established festivals of FIB (Benicàssim), Mad Cool (Madrid) and Sónar (Barcelona), to others that have sprung up more recently. Between them, they cover the whole spectrum of popular music and are a major attraction for the young international tourist profile.
