Valencia is the 2022 European Capital of Smart Tourism
10 August, 2022The city of Valencia has been recognised by the European Union as the 2022 European Capital of Smart Tourism for its efforts to improve the profitability, segmentation, internationalisation and competitiveness of its tourism activity, as well as for laying the foundations for sustainability and digitalisation.
“Valencia is in a position to implement an ambitious plan that will enable it to take responsibility for minimising the impact of tourism activity, both socially and environmentally. A plan that will also support tourism companies taking the necessary leap forward in terms of accessibility, sustainability and digitalisation of services and processes”, explained the mayor, Sandra Gómez.
The Valencia Sustainability Plan has a total budget of 7.5 million euros and is divided into four areas: green and sustainability transition, improvement of energy efficiency, digital transition and competitiveness.
