A successful first year for the Avlo Madrid-Barcelona railway line
14 September, 2022During the first year since the launch of its Avlo trains, Renfe has transported 6.3 million passengers on its High Speed services (Ave+Avlo) that run on the Madrid-Barcelona-Figueres Vilafant railway line. This figure signifies a tripling in the number of passengers compared to the same period for 2020-2021, which means an overall recovery of more than 4 million passengers.
Avlo trains were first launched on 23rd June 2021, providing services to all of the cities along the line, including Figueres Vilafant, Girona, Barcelona, Camp de Tarragona, Lleida, Zaragoza, Calatayud, Guadalajara and Madrid. Prices start at just 7 euros for a single fare.
The launch of this new service in 2021 has allowed customers to enjoy the wide range of services Renfe provides on this route, both in terms of frequency, with 25 daily services in each direction between Madrid and Barcelona, and in the different passenger travel options on offer. This means that passengers can easily adapt journeys to their needs.
