6 Spanish hotels which stand out thanks to their sustainability
12 October, 2022In Spain, an increasing of hotels are committed to sustainability and in 2022 some awards have even been created to endorse those establishments that stand out for incorporating these criteria into their daily management, the GrINN Awards, among whose applicants the following accommodation stands out.
- Miluna, Open Nature Rooms.- in Hormigos, Toledo. It has 4 bubble rooms from which you can stargaze. Over 500 trees have been planted on the farm, it supports the local community, recycling, supports social projects and offsets emissions.
- La Almunia del Valle de Monachil.- Monachil, Granada. This is in the Sierra Nevada National Park and it has thermal and photovoltaic solar panels. It has a ditch for water distribution with a wastewater treatment system and an aerobic bacteria generator.
- Cork Valley Pod Houses Toledo.- Hontanar, Toledo. This is a 70-hectare farm in the heart of the Montes de Toledo with small sustainable and ecological wooden cabins, with enough room for two guests each, using 100% renewable energy from solar energy.
- Los Lirios Hotel Rural.- Tías, Lanzarote. This is located in a traditional 18th century house which has been respectfully renovated and adapted to a 6-room hotel. Photovoltaic solar energy, elimination of single-use plastic containers, responsible management and local products.
- Hotel Bosque Mar.- O Grove, Pontevedra. One of the pioneer hotels in Spain in using renewable energies, since 2000 it has had 80 solar panels installed, reducing its energy consumption by 90%. Local products and its own vegetable garden.
- Hotel Sostenible La Laguna.- Brozas, Cáceres. This is located at the gates of the Parque Natural y Reserva de la Biosfera del Tajo Internacional [Tagus International Natural Park] Km0 products in its restaurant, energy saving, renewable energies and recycled materials.
