The Costa del Sol seeks to recover every last British tourist
19 October, 2022The Malaga authorities have announced that they are going to redouble their promotional efforts to recover 100% of the British tourism which visited the Costa del Sol before the pandemic. Between January and July of this year, 715,438 Britons stayed in hotels and tourist apartments, 973% more than the previous year but 15% less than in 2019.
“Clearly British tourists continue to opt for the Costa del Sol although the figures for 2019 have not yet been recovered”, said the president of Costa del Sol Tourism, Francisco Salado, who relies on the strong ties to the United Kingdom with this area of Andalusia to recuperate visitor arrival.
To achieve this, he has anticipated that various actions will be taken in the British market to “recover a market that is enormously faithful to our destination”. Among these initiatives, he stated that they have plans to capture the so-called “energy nomads” in the United Kingdom, those tourists who move to warmer destinations in winter to save on energy rates.
