How sustainable nautical tourism replaces motor craft with canoes

19 October, 2022

Nautical tourism can be a new way for tourists to experience sustainability and become more environmentally aware. This was highlighted at the Mar Blue 2022 conference, in which emphasis was placed on the upcoming transition from electric motorisation.

There are examples and experiences which show that sustainable nautical tourism is already a reality: “An increasing number of users ask for canoes and light sailing boats as they do not have motors, to enjoy the essence of the sea. They only use the wind, the waves and physical effort", confirmed Marta Reynés, director of the Puerto Portals Sailing School.

Also, Gaspar Ferraut, Complex Director of Security & Environmental Compliance at the hotel St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort, illustrated with the experience launched by the Marriott establishment: making a sustainable ‘llaüt’ (a traditional Balearic boat) available to customers. An initiative which has been well received.
