3 Spanish cities could be the Capital of Smart Tourism 2023

The European Commission has announced the finalists in the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2023 contest. In this edition of the 2023 annuity, there are 7 selected cities, 3 of which are Spanish: Gijón, San Sebastian and Seville.

The candidates were selected from 29 cities across Europe and represent the forefront of smart tourism practices in European tourist destinations. A panel of experts from the smart tourism fields of accessibility, digitalisation, sustainability and cultural heritage and creativity made the selection over an extensive assessment period.

The shortlisted cities will now be invited to present their candidatures to a European Jury, which will select the European Capitals of Smart Tourism for 2023. There are always two. The winners of the previous editions are: Helsinki and Lyon (2019), Malaga and Gothenburg (2020) and Valencia and Bordeaux (2022). All benchmarks of smart tourism in Europe.
