Confirmed, British tourists want to visit Spain this winter

2 November, 2022

Despite the dark clouds on the horizon, at the moment the forecasts for the autumn and winter season are relatively optimistic in the United Kingdom, as explained by the director of the Spanish Tourist Office in London, Manuel Butler, during the Turespaña 2022 Convention.

“Inflationary tension of up to double digits persists, there is a decrease in income and a fall in consumer confidence ... There is negative news on that front. But surveys continue to identify tourism as a staple need. There is a tremendous absence of light in the Nordic countries and the clear need to travel to destinations with light”, Butler said.

And these trends, according to the director of the STO in London, “combine with the great savings that still exist in most families, which translates into great optimism of tour operators in these countries. This is seen in the air capacities planned for the winter, far higher than those of 2019, where the great beneficiary is the Canary Islands, main destination par excellence”, he remarked.
