A Spanish resort wins the award for best Sustainable Action
16 November, 2022PortAventura World has added the first recognition for PortAventura Solar, selected in the II edition of Sustainability Day 2022 as one of the best Sustainability Actions 2022. This infrastructure is the largest self-consumption photovoltaic solar plant in a holiday resort in Spain and one of the largest in Europe, which is being built under a rigorous landscape integration plan.
PortAventura Solar is considering installing a total of 11,102 solar panels on the ground which will occupy a total area of 6.4 hectares, equivalent to 9 football fields, within the resort. The solar plant will have a power of 6.05 megawatts peak (MWp), which will allow PortAventura World to generate 10 GWh/year of clean electricity and cover practically a third of its energy needs.
The Sustainability Day awards have been presented this year for the first time. They award the best social and environmental impact actions carried out by all types of companies, start-ups, foundations and NGOs, as well as public administrations and academic institutions, in recognition of their commitment to the sustainable development of society, the economy and the planet.
