400,000 air seats for the Brits to Gran Canaria

23 November, 2022

The tourist destination of Gran Canaria will have 417,129 regular seats from the United Kingdom this winter season. This represents a milestone in the island’s connectivity with an 31.8% increase compared to the same months of the 2019-2020 period and one of the main assets of the island tourism brand to recover the indicators of 2019.

Both the increase in connectivity and the travel facilities for British customers, with new routes from Newcastle, London Gatwick and Glasgow alongside the renovation and improvement of the destination, are arguments for the “cautious optimism” shown by the island's authorities during their recent visit to the WTM fair.

So, Gran Canaria hopes to be able to “match and if possible exceed” the volume of pre-pandemic business with a volume of visitors estimated at 771,000 British customers. The accumulated figure for the year, during the first eight months, shows the presence on the island of 580,856 UK tourists up to September.
