Experience a unique event in Madrid
Culture turns into experience 14 December, 2022Madrid is trendy… The most open city in the world, the city that allows you to enjoy every moment with intensity, has become a leading destination for events. Especially if you think about incentives, about premium events. This is a partial selection (there is much more!) of the options and ideas that Madrid offers to impress a demanding public.
The incredible cultural richness created throughout centuries of history in Spain is reflected in a first-rate museum offer, beginning with (but not limited to) the famous “golden triangle” of the Paseo del Arte (Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums). This area is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here culture mixes with nature and architectural history in an extraordinary visit but the museum offer goes much further, with 44 museums dedicated to all facets of human creativity. Living this culture is something that your guests will greatly appreciate, even more so if they can experience it in a surprising, personalised way, if the works come to life. The culture has translated into many unique experiences for groups from around the world.
Museums and other cultural areas
Restoration workshops: experience the bowels of art live
Delve into the Thyssen restoration department. Its restoration experts will explain the high technology used in this department of the museum, as well as the complex conservation processes that some of the most famous works in the world undergo. You can also propose a private visit to the Prado restoration workshop: a private visit to the restoration workshop to see the artist at work, with a glass of cava and with explanations from an art specialist. Another option?
A visit to the restorer looms at the Royal Tapestry Factory, where the restorers of this mythical and historical manufacture of rugs, tapestries and embroidered cloth work.
Musicals and shows on “Latin Broadway”
It has been a remarkable cultural evolution of Madrid: the city, and especially its famous Gran Vía, has become a capital of musicals, with today no less than 44 musicals on its billboards! This cultural product, more popular than ever, is also offered as an exclusive activity for groups. Enjoy the city with the most musicals in Spanish in the world, which is already known as “Latin Broadway”.
Experience the best flamenco... and go on stage!
“An extract of fire and poison, that is flamenco”, said the dancer Antonio Gades, a quote which translates the uniqueness of this art that represents the image of Spain very well. An overwhelming mix of dry music, masterfully played guitar, beautiful dresses, improvisation, dance and exposed emotion. And although flamenco is Andalusian, Madrid has the best quality (and most)tablaos in the world.
There are many options, such as the Corral de la Morería: the only flamenco tablao with a Michelin star in the world, where you find authentic flamenco with a gastro restaurant, in which the chef creates a very personal gastro proposal.
YOUR INCENTIVE, TASTIEST IN MADRID
Madrid, a pure meeting point for people, is the same when it comes to gastronomy and it has become the perfect place to feed the foodie spirit of your group thanks to its strength and gastronomic variety: traditional, fusion, international, haute cuisine, avant-garde, with a Michelin star or in a charming neighbourhood restaurant... You can find everything in Madrid, starting with 22 Michelin-starred restaurants and the best chef in the world, Dabiz Muñoz! This gastronomy can be enjoyed with sports, shopping, culture, music and entertainment, a flamenco show with gastronomy or a tennis match at the Madrid Open with one of the best cuisines in the world. Madrid has gastro events where this creativity is expressed, such as Madrid Fusión (international gastro summit) or other events such as the Gastrofestival.
The presentation of the 2023 edition of the Michelin Guide for Spain and Portugal lists 22 Michelin-starred restaurants in Madrid, either as their own restaurants or located inside luxury hotels which are increasingly turning into top sensory and gastro environments and allow guests to enjoy the best gastronomy in a thousand ways: activities, workshops, visits, tastings etc.
The oldest restaurant in the world
Madrid’s gastro culture is not new, in fact, Casa Botín, founded in 1725, is the oldest restaurant in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records and one of the benchmarks of traditional cuisine. Forbes magazine reserved it in third place among the 10 best classic restaurants in the world and it has received members of royalty, politicians, writers and Hollywood stars. In the “Botín experience”, you can learn about the restaurant’s history and anecdotes seeing all its corners: the underground cellar, the original oven from 1725 before they serve their most famous dishes.
Gastro experience in the food hall of Galeria Canalejas
The Galería Canalejas Food Hall offers a culinary journey towards Spanish and international gastronomy, becoming a gastro hotspot. More than 4,000m2 and 13 restaurants, including Michelin stars such as Monchis de Julián Mármol. The Eight is notable for its use of Binchotan charcoal from Japan in its sandwiches and burgers. And Mad Gourmets hosts 20 food stands from around the world, in an open format, with space for music and shows. The creativity of Madrid's gastronomy manages to conquer the palate (and the heart) of any group. The city offers an endless number of experiences from show cooking to gastro workshops from around the world (although the Spanish one is better!).
Outside the city, visits to the D.O Vinos de Madrid
Maybe it will surprise you (nothing better than surprising your group!): Madrid has wines and even its own denomination of origin. A getaway to the vineyards of Vinos de Madrid is an attractive one-day tour where you can learn about production processes, taste signature wines and gain a fascinating insight into the region's culinary heritage.
Some vineyards near Madrid?
In Aranjuez, the El Regajal winery offers guided tours which explain the cultivation techniques, with tasting in the winery and group lunches in its gardens and terraces. Aranjuez’s Bodega Carlos III, the only one owned by a royal house in the world, is a Historic-Artistic Monument. This neoclassical building, half an hour from Madrid, has been renovated for events, with rooms, an underground gallery and a French-style garden. It offers wine-related activities where you can build a team. “Create your Own Wine” and “Casino del Vino”, among others, allow all the senses to be put to the test.
Another example is the Bodega Pablo Morate and its wine museum, built at the end of the 15th century and undoubtedly one of the places with the longest wine tradition and vintage in Spain. In the winery there are guided tours, wine tasting-courses, and cocktails, Spanish wines and catering in the museum.
Vermouth route
Vermouth time in Spain is a weekend custom and in Madrid vermouth is served with increasing care and variety.
