A Coruña will host the Tall Ships Races 2023 regatta
28 December, 2022The city of A Coruña will host the Tall Ships Races Magallanes-Elcano next summer. The port of A Coruña, located in the city centre, is ideal for this type of regatta. The port area is a short distance from the commercial area, with banks, shops, restaurants, gardens, museums and theatres. In August 2023, the sailboats in this regatta will depart from Falmouth, stop at A Coruña and Lisbon and finish in Cádiz.
As well as this iconic regatta, A Coruña will also participate in 2023 in the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the death of Pablo Ruiz Picasso (1881-1973), who lived in this Galician city from the age of 9 to 13. There he painted his first paintings and held his first exhibition. Next year it will host an extensive cultural programme to celebrate Picasso Year 2023, along with other cities where the artist also lived.
Furthermore, A Coruña will host Womex 2023 from 25 to 29 October. Every year, Womex is held in a different European city with projection as a tourist destination, structural capacity to host large events and an ambitious vision in its cultural policy, such as A Coruña.
