4 January, 2023

The Government of Castilla - La Mancha has approved the declaration of the recreation of the « Battle of Almansa » as a celebration of Regional Tourism Interest. This is added to the declaration as a celebration of International Tourism Interest of the feasts of Moors and Christians which is celebrated in the month of May.

As stated by the provincial delegate of the Board in Albacete, Pedro Antonio Ruiz, saying that this declaration has been granted for the cultural, historical and social value and for the economic impact of this historical recreation, which has been held since 2007 and which in its last edition, in April 2022, brought in over 3,000 spectators.

Thus, the historical recreation of the 'Battle of Almansa', which represents the events which occurred in the municipality of the province of Albacete on 25 April 1707, brings together more than 400 historical reenactors from all over Europe each year, who stage the battle between the Bourbon troops and the Austrian coalition which was decisive in the War of the Spanish Succession.
