A bat cave you can visit in Loro Parque
11 January, 2023Loro Parque will open two new facilities which will offer an immersive experience in two unique environments: La Gruta, a dark and spectacular bat cave and Oceania a large open aviary which will recreate the main habitats of Australia. The zoo works so that its visitors can experience ecosystems from all over the world and the opening of these two new areas is another step in that direction.
The new enclosure of La Gruta is designed to resemble a cave of fruit bats in which the visitor is surrounded by stalagmites and stalactites, moves in the dark and is only separated from the animals through a glass, through which they can appreciate the specimens in all their splendour. Given the sensitive nature of the species, the exhibit is completely soundproof.
On the other hand, Oceania will offer the unprecedented opportunity to discover the main natural habitats of Australia. This new, large, open aviary for Australian parrots improves the birds’ welfare by increasing the available space and encouraging interaction between different species.
