Madrid-Chamartín will be a benchmark for sustainable mobility
1 February, 2023‘Chamartín ecosistema abierto’ is the proposal chosen for the integral remodelling of the Madrid-Chamartín Clara Campoamor train station. The aim is to turn it into a reference hub for sustainable, integrated and multimodal mobility, as clarified by the Spanish rail transport authorities.
In February 2020, Adif Alta Velocidad (AV), the public manager of Spanish railway infrastructures, launched an international competition to transform this railway hub into an international reference for sustainable, multimodal, connected and integrated mobility.
Up to 18 architecture and engineering teams were presented, of which 10 were selected and invited to participate in the second phase. In July, nine proposals were received which were evaluated by a multidisciplinary jury. The [Chamartín open ecosystem] project was selected, presented by Esteyco, UNStudio and b720 Arquitectura.
