100 Catalan tourism companies certify their sustainability
15 March, 2023Maresme is a region of Catalonia committed to sustainable tourism. As seen by the hundred companies which have received the Biosphere tourism quality commitment, which accredits and guarantees the firm commitment to implementing more sustainable models of companies and destinations. The region has made a firm commitment to sustainability, a concept that not only includes environmental aspects but also social and economic ones.
The Consorci de Promoció Turística Costa del Maresme has reinstated that the Biosphere certification goes beyond having a seal of distinction. It’s a way of involving the entire organisation. The achievements awarded represent a recognition of business participation and the public-private sector, to be able to create a work network at regional level.
The Biosphere seals of distinction are increasingly in demand; “If we are working for sustainable and responsible tourism, it is important to have companies and public elements which stand out and have these references at international level which allow tourists to consider us as certified points of responsible tourism”, the Consortium said.
