Las Palmas up for best gastronomic destination in Spain

15 March, 2023

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is one of the five candidate cities for the Best Gastronomic Destination in Spain 2023 award, which the prestigious travel, nature, history National Geographic communication platform is organising among its followers and readers to recognise those towns which are a notable example of innovation, sustainability and non-invasive tourism.

Las Palmas shares the ranking with Burgos, Denia, Sigüenza and Tolosa. Its candidacy is based, according to National Geographic, on the uniqueness of the destination in which “the combination of its insularity, its cosmopolitanism and its young chefs” stands out. The publication adds that all of this “has transformed the ‘Canarian’ capital into an urban destination with a lot of flavour.”

The 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards propose 10 categories and will decide on 19 March. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is in the running to become the best gastronomic destination in Spain, a priority product in the tourism policy that the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria through Turismo LPA has begun to promote.
