Seville, European Capital of Smart Tourism during 2023
12 April, 2023In March, Seville launched its European Capital of Smart Tourism, a distinction granted by the European Commission and which makes it a benchmark for its good practices and its new strategy. Now the city will continue advancing in its efficient, sustainable tourism management model supported by new technologies with new projects which will boost the local economy.
The system to control tourist flow in the Santa Cruz neighbourhood through sensors and cameras stands out amongst the projects in which the Smart Tourism Office of Seville is already working. But the Horizontes Sevilla Inteligente project is also under development for the transformation of 264 buildings into energy-sustainable properties through the use of new technologies.
We can also mention the eCity Seville project to turn La Cartuja into a 100% sustainable island, as well as the renovation of the Artillery Factory or the development of a flow management model in public areas which has been applied in cities from all over the world and which guarantees safety at festivals such as Easter.
