The Aran Valley, transition towards sustainable tourism in the Pyrenees
19 April, 2023The Aran Valley, located in the heart of the Pyrenees, is committed to a more sustainable tourism model that respects the natural environment thanks to an investment of 2.5 million euros from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism. The valley has launched a sustainable tourism programme that seeks to protect the environment and promote the area’s economic and social development.
The local authorities want to move towards a tourism model that not only respects the environment but also helps develop innovative strategies that allow environmental, territorial, economic and social balance. The economic and social importance of tourism in the Aran Valley is such that a joint effort is essential for development and common benefit.
The new investment will allow the implementation of various actions in tourism governance, sustainable value propositions, competitiveness and specialisation, marketing and sustainable promotion. Within these lines of action, the intention to turn the valley into a smart tourist destination stands out, where sustainable mobility is promoted and access to the natural environment is controlled.
