3 May, 2023

Extremadura is a Spanish inland region little known for international tourism but very interesting for what it offers especially when looking for alternative conventional holiday tourism. Among many other possibilities, it has four sustainable gastronomic routes that are based on its local products and that are worth tasting.

  1. Dehesa de Extremadura Ibérico Route. Dedicated to the ham produced in the region which is one of the best in Spain. An experiential journey to discover an authentic delicacy.
  2. Cheese Route of Extremadura. The route runs through various Denominations of Origin, such as Torta del Casar, Ibores, La Serena and Acehúche, as well as through several territories with a long cheese tradition.
  3. Oil Route of Extremadura. This itinerary focuses on a basic product of Spanish cuisine and covers up to 12 territories where excellent olive oil is produced, in some of them for at least 2,500 years. A jewel of gastronomy that is applied to the tastiest dishes.
  4. Wine Route and Cava Ribera del Guadiana. The wines of Extremadura are the stars of this wine tourism route passing through wine-making areas like Tierra de Barros, Matanegra, Ribera Alta, Ribera Baja, Montánchez and Cañamero.
