Post-pandemic recovery boosts Spain towards a record season
17 May, 2023The National Tourism Institute (Turespaña) has published the Market Trend Reports for the 2023 summer season which show that the demand for holiday trips to Spain from the main European markets shows relative strength and is gradually recovering pre-pandemic levels, maintaining the line of the data provided by Frontur and Egatur for the first quarter of 2023.
Spain continues to be the favourite destination for the British, as seen by the high demand and rates of consideration, resonance and intention to travel or the air capacities scheduled for summer 2023. As the confidence of the British improves and, if their economic situation improves, we may well see a gradual recovery of searches and bookings for Spain. The latter continues to be their main destination.
For Miguel Sanz, general manager of Turespaña, the leading indicators for the main markets confirm that “this is a good time for the tourism sector. The progressive recovery of tourist demand indicates that this year we will be able to comfortably exceed the figures for 2019 and maintain a positive evolution in the volume of spending”.
